It touches on the problematics of invoking “exceptional” rule in the service of countering “terrorism” and securing public safety (Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will not be read his Miranda rights, but what constitutes “terrorism” in legal terms and on what grounds have his acts been determined as such?); and the relevance of his ethnicity and the recent history of the Chechen Republic to the task of elucidating his motives (despite the fact that the Tsarnaev brothers have spent the past decade living in the United States, such information has been mobilized for the purposes of “contextualization”, and this is undoubtedly due primarily to the fact that the two suspects “have a lot of consonants in their name”).
